45 MAGNUM

Here was something that nobody had tried, but it looked like it would work, and by gosh it did.  I mated Sportster heads and modified barrels to a WR lower end.  My purpose was to increase the horsepower while keeping the weight to a minimum.  I clearanced a WL frame and lightened it at the same time, added a close ratio WR tranny and a Ceriani fork and front brake.  In those days we didn’t have custom wheels on the market, even so, the bike only weighed 230 lbs. Wet.  Power to weight?  Oh boy!  I over revved it at the drags and both rods snapped, converting the flywheel assembly into a buzz saw.  You should have seen the mess.  I still have all of the pieces packed away though.
